Backspielhaus Restaurant in Munich

Very nicely furnished shop with excellent baked goods. The breakfast on site is very good, but not cheap either - the price-performance ratio is definitely okay! There is also lunch, but I haven't tried it yet. The service staff is very friendly, but works on the weekends tw. a bit overwhelmed when the shop is really full.

Completely overrated shop. The staff is mostly snooty and if you don't have a Porsche key or something similar. in hand, one is treated accordingly. Children are basically welcome and why the pieces of cake have to be cut so huge and unfavorably no one understands (but they are quite good). Prices are high but overall the products are good.

The food, bread and croissant are great. The decoration is really great. Unfortunately, the waitresses are really not super polite. That always stop me going Unfortunately.

This place is just pure good taste, beautiful space, warm and fun, food taste wonderful. Why no 5 stars?, I find it overprice and I would like to visit this place more often!

Always very nice - unfortunately often busy ... I recommend making a reservation. Great breakfast selection and delicious freshly squeezed juices. The little doll rolls are a great idea - so you can eat more different ones.

Best breakfast in the area. Unfortunately a bit expensive, but the quality is always very good, so you can treat yourself to that from time to time. Baked goods are also available to take away to take home and the rolls feel fresh longer than with all the bakery chains - which also speaks for the good quality. Tip: Make a reservation, especially on weekends.

Only four stars from me, as it is often very crowded, the coffee is just average tasty and the prices and the clientele are a bit higher. However, very nice ambience and a very good corona concept.

High prices, high quality Yes, the Backspielhaus is definitely one of the more expensive bakeries. But the quality is always right and I personally prefer to eat fresh, local and hand-made than rolls that are made in the Far East and baked frozen in so-called bakeries. I like to pay a little more for that. The attention to detail and quality can be seen in every dish here, be it breakfast, a small lunch or all bread and baked goods. The plum crumble is the best in all of Munich. I like the white beach ambience very much, the service is usually good too. With pleasure again and again, also in the other branches in Munich.

Dear Myriam is such a polite, attentive and pleasant waitress that I am of the opinion that 90% of the waiters in Munich should learn a huge amount from her! The food was delicious and very nicely presented. Thank you for this more than pleasant hospitality. We'll be back for sure.

The decor is very iconic, but sitting inside is not exactly comfortable as the volume level is very high. Even if it's not full! The staff could also be more motivated for the prices that are charged.

Lunch qualitative: 2 stars. Service, attention: 1 star. Prices: 1 star, completely overpriced. The hammer: No personal data was recorded! They probably haven't noticed anything about the registration requirement ... any more than about friendliness.

Great quality of food and service for Munich prices

Very good place for brunch. Very good bread and a good breakfast option. The menu offers a lot, the coffee variations are great. The decor is loving and stylish. The service is great and EC cards are accepted, as is a visit with a dog. All around a nice restaurant for weekend breakfast and lots of parking and little stress. Always my pleasure.

Amazing place!

Extremely overpriced (even for Munich standards), mostly ignorant & rude staff (there are exceptions), prices via phone don’t reflect those in person, and the food is mediocre at best. Avoid this place.

I just like the place unfortunately apparently too few staff a completely overwhelmed waiter Order went quickly but then we went there my omelette no longer hot, appetizingly arranged but waiting for my bill for 45 minutes. Guests sat down because they were not served, guests Waited 30 minutes at the next table for cappuccino and cake I'm no quarrel but that was not an exhilarating experience even though the waiter had apologized many times

We were there for breakfast. I personally find it very expensive. Cappuccino 4.80, French toast 11.50 is way too high. The ambience is very nice, and the waiter is also very good and nice. I give the 5 star rating for the food and the waiter, but not because of the upscale price range.

It's nice that the Backspielhaus still exists after 40 years. Hasn't been there for a long time, today again and just like back then it was just delicious and good. Great ambience, super nice and friendly wait staff. And that also during the corona time. Many thanks :-))

I like the headquarter of the Backspielhaus. Breakfast here is always something special. The choice of different breakfast is huge and the choice has become better and better over the last decade. The prices are not cheap, but even more reason to celebrate and enjoy the visit even more. It is definitivly better to book a table in advance and certainly necessary to do so for the weekend brunchs.

My favorite breakfast location! Always friendly service. Even if it is very busy, they are very fast. Everything tastes great. The prices are tough, but it's worth it to me. You can see a lot of Munich chiceria here, but you can hide that;)

ENGLISH Nice ambiente, fair serving sizes and prices, friendly staff! We did get seats without reservation and could get food off the breakfast menu even around noon (supposedly you can until 5pm). After ordering off the big menu it didn't take long for the food to arrive. It was very delicious and well presented. Apart from pancakes with mint it all worked very well together, especially the self made jam. Special wishes were respected too. Halfway through eating we notices a part of the breakfast was missing. After asking the waitress she didn't hesitate to bring it to us right away eventhiugh she wasn't sure if it was really part of the breakfast we ordered (we checked the menu to be sure though). This behavior and general kindness if the waitress is hopefully valued not only by the customers. To sum it up, very nice stay and we highly recommend it! DEUTSCH Nettes Ambiente, gute Portionen, fairer Preis, freundliche Bedienung! Wir haben ohne Reservierung einen Platz bekommen und konnten auch gegen Mittag noch Frühstücken (geht anscheinend bis 17 Uhr). Nachdem wir uns etwas aus der großen Speisekarte ausgesucht hatten hat es nicht lange gedauert bis das Essen da war. Das Essen war sehr lecker und sehr schön angerichtet. Mal von der Minze auf dem Pancake abgesehen hat alles sehr gut zueinander gepasst. Die hauseigene Marmelade ist ausgesprochen lecker. Auch auf Sonderwünsche wurde eingegangen. Während dem Essen ist uns aufgefallen dass ein Teil eines Frühstücks fehlt. Als wir die Bedienung darauf aufmerksam machten hat sie uns das sofort gebracht obwohl sie sich nicht sicher schien dass es dazu gehört (wir hatten extra nochmal auf der Karte nachgeschaut). Diese Zuvorkommenheit und allgemeine freundliche Art der Bedienung ist überdurchschnittlich und wird hoffentlich nicht nur von den Gästen wert geschätzt! Alles in allem ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt und zu empfehlen!

Nice service and although it was very busy we had to wait relatively short for our breakfast. It tasted great and the atmosphere in the courtyard was also very nice!

The price is a bit high, but reasonable. Beautiful ambience to enjoy the food and drinks. We ate the American breakfast and weekend sandwich and can absolutely recommend it.

As always, very relaxed and delicious. Unfortunately not very cheap and more than full on the day of the visit, so that the very nice wait staff had a hard time catering for all hungry men. But overall, and especially when the weather is good, always worth a visit. Breakfast until 5pm ... ;-) Definitely reserve.

This new modern and stylish Bakery style restaurant offers splendid breakfast. It is a bit outside of tow but well know among locals.

Very popular but hard to see why. Weak coffee, tepid tea,15€ Eggs Benedict, but bread and jam was nice.

We came here again after a few month and we used to love it. This time the winter garden thing was not prepared to use and we had to sit inside. They’ve sat us in a really bad spot and we asked to be reseated . They’ve given us a broken table again and then we moved again because you couldn’t sit there, let alone eat there. The manager was extremely unfriendly, and frankly, even audacious. Hated it from then on. The food was really good, yet the portion size has dramatically decreased and the prices went up a notch. The waitresses who were at our table were really friendly and helpful. So just like the other reviews, this 1 star is directed at the manager who needs to fix her attitude. It used to be one of our personal highlights whenever we’re back in Munich but we will not come again.

Beautiful place with a very wide selection of breakfast! The atmosphere is “island” like and you feel like you are on vacation. Only thing I disliked was the fact that they charge 7€ for a glass of orange juice, which is extremely overpriced.

Was good several times, but we have been treated rude today by the service when we wanted to sit outside. We were not allowed to sit outside on our desired place and did not choose another one. Instead, the order was for us to be assigned a seat. The situation was the same one time some time ago, because we had been assigned one of the unsightly places. Instead of a nice breakfast we went dissatisfied

ENGLISH The Backspielhaus in Munich is a good breakfast restaurant - it gave us a lot of pleasure to start the day there. There are all sorts of innovative culinary and visual delights to try. The staff was always friendly, courteous and of course there was - as everywhere in the city - the Munich charm. We especially liked the colourful dishes and the colourful design of the restaurant. The food was always delicious, and from time to time it is quite crowded - so of course we also understand that even with reservations not "the whole day" can stay there - also other guests should have the chance to have their breakfast before lunch in the Backspielhaus to enjoy. From me a clear recommendation for the visit of the Backspielhaus. DEUTSCH Das Backspielhaus in München ist ein gutes Frühstücksrestaurant – es hat uns viel Freude bereitet dort in den Tag zu starten. Es gibt allerhand innovative kulinarische und optische Leckerbissen zu probieren. Das Personal war stets freundlich, zuvorkommend und natürlich herrschte auch hier – wie überall in der Stadt - der Münchener Charme. Besonders gefallen hat uns das bunte Geschirr und die farbenfrohe Gestaltung des Restaurants. Das Essen war stets sehr lecker, und ja ab und an ist es recht voll – daher haben wir natürlich auch Verständnis dafür, dass man auch bei Reservierungen nicht “den ganzen Tag“ dort bleiben kann – auch weitere Gäste sollen die Chance haben ihr Frühstück noch vor dem Mittagessen im Backspielhaus zu genießen. Von mir eine klare Empfehlung für den Besuch des Backspielhauses.

Yummy food and nice atmosphere.

Today we have gone to Backspielhaus without reservation for a family Sunday brunch. We have been accommodated by the manager at a table for 5. 4 of us already there, we were waiting for the 5th person to join. We were having something to drink while waiting, and after 40 min the manager has come to the table and in a very abrupt way she has ordered us to pay the bill and leave the place because she needed the table for other guests, and when we tried to get explanations about her rude manners she told me (I understand German but can’t speak it) that she wouldn’t talk to me because I don’t speak enough German and then left the table and ordered the waiter to “get the money and let us go”. I have never ever experienced a behaviour like that. I’ve travelled the world and this is the first time I experience a behaviour like that. If this is considered to be a high end place, then maybe the manager has no clue of what high end means, and most probably she is not even aware of where good manners live, not to talk about hosting skills. Very rude person! Stay away!

Overpriced and unfriendly service.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and wicked tasty breakfast. Try the avocado dishes or Croque Madame. It won't disappoint! Wholeheartedly recommended.

The waiter was not kind at all, we waited for the bill for more than 20 minutes. Nice slightly overpriced brunch but terrible service make it a bad experience
